Today we have something super fun for you…how to style a room for a tween! For those of you with older kids and need some room inspiration, we used lots of bright colors and unexpected details while keeping the space functional and practical. Here's how…

1. Color and texture —  When styling any space, color and texture are super important! We wanted this space to be fun, playful, and sophisticated, so we used lots of both. We used the bedspread as the color inspiration and styled the space around that using teals, corals, and yellows. We brought in extra color with the lavender walls (this purple has grey undertones that help keep it feeling more sophisticated to contrast all the other bright pops of color). We also added in lots of pops of gold, which instantly makes a space feel more modern and chic. To add texture, we used faux plants and flowers (no upkeep required!), faux fur blankets, and a mix of knitted and faux leather pillows.

2. Storage — Having space to create and keep everything organized is super important in a tween bedroom, so we made sure this room had LOTS of it. We put a tall vertical shelf by the bed to house books and smaller decor items, a bedside table for daily essentials, and a desk to keep school and art supplies. We also added a rolling cart and a rolling cubby for extra storage. Rolling storage is fun because it's practical but also SO easy to switch things up. Want to rearrange? Want to make space for a dance party? No problem!

3. A dose of whimsy — Being a tween (or a teen) can be a confusing stage of life, so we wanted to make sure that this room always felt bright and positive. We kept it light and playful with details that sparkle and shine like: disco balls, iridescent details on the rolling cart, and gold metallics. The daisy rug is also a fun detail that helps brighten the room and makes it extra cozy.

4. Artwork — No room is complete without some artwork! We continued the color palette in the room to the art pieces, and instead of one large piece, we used three smaller ones to create a statement. We chose colorful, playful pieces that help cultivate a creative, calm space.
