We're starting a new series called HAPPY SPACE! Everyone has a place that makes them happy, a space where they instantly feel at home and at ease in. So, our Creative Content team has created a new challenge for themselves: to style a dream room for everyone on the Oh Joy! team. First up? Me!

When I was growing up, my parents had a window full of hanging plants that I used to help take care of. I loved watching them grow and the visual interest they added to the room. So, when Julia and Jess asked me what room I wanted as MY happy space, I said an arboretum. Next thing I know, they've created this peaceful, gorgeous arboretum living room that I wish was mine in real life.

I always think it's fun to see what these spaces look like outside the crop and how we create the magic here at our studio! There's Julia and Jess making this scene come to life!

They took my go-to colors of the moment (green, blush, and peach) and used them to style the space: calming blush for the walls, a bold pop of green with the velvet couch, and lots of pretty peach pillows piled high. They also made sure to include lots of accents in my favorite neutral color, gold ;).

If this room had a motto, it would be: the more plants, the merrier! I actually CANNOT keep plants alive, so this space has a mix of both real and faux plants to add to the feel while making it somewhat manageable to maintain! Julia and Jess wanted the room to feel like a green house for me, so they mixed in hanging plants, large potted floor plants, and lots of smaller succulents and plants on the wall.

What do you think, would this be YOUR happy space, too?! It might just be my new favorite room they've ever styled. Stay tuned for more, and tell me in the comments below what your happy space is!

  1. This would TOTALLY be my happy space too! Over the last 2-3 years, I’ve learned what kind of plants I can keep alive and what I can’t (succulents are the hardest for me to keep alive!) and slowly collecting and adding plants to our console table in the living room. It brings me joy to see different shades of green in our home, and it’s a calming ritual to water and care for these plant babies. My kids love taking turns to take care of them, too.
(And i love the behind the scene picture!!! I so wanted to jump in and join them 🙂
