We're back with our third post in our fashion series by members of the Oh Joy! team. A couple years ago, we started the Dressing the Team series because I wanted to highlight the variety of women (and our unique body types) that work here. We wanted to get even more in depth into everyone's style story and really highlight how they dress for various needs, have evolved in their own styles, and tips they can offer to you as well. Today, Angie, our Art and Design Director, is sharing her tips on how she dresses while nursing! -Joy

My day is full as a mom of three young boys working full-time! When I get dressed in the morning, my outfit needs to be a multi-purpose, easy-peasy get-up that will have me prepared for whatever the day may bring: kid drop-off, grocery shopping, an office party, or a coffee date with friends. I need to dress for utility while including pieces that make me smile.

In my style philosophy, form follows function. But it's also playful! I love pockets and double duty accessories so I make sure to add statement elements that bring joy to my day with fun color, bold patterns, and comfy and durable textures.

In this season of my life, my ensemble also needs to be nursing/pumping friendly. With three kids under 5, I have been nursing since 2014 (with breaks) and wanted to share a few tips on how I dress to be nursing-friendly…

1. Tops with easy access! I'm all about button downs and tops that are roomy and stretchy. It's a bonus if there's pattern and an easy-care material.
2. Layering pieces! Jean jackets, sweaters, and scarfs can serve double duty as coverups. I am also a big fan of camisoles and snug-fitting undershirts that can be easily pulled to the side for nursing.
3. Good bras! I avoid underwire bras because they're hard to maneuver while nursing and love stretchy, soft bras with a bit of padding. I found nursing-specific bras (the ones with the little clips on the straps) were really helpful in when my babes were tiny and nursing all the time.

Here are some of my favorite outfits to wear while nursing…

Outfit: Gorman jumpsuit, JCrew jean jacket, Block Artt earrings.

This jumpsuit is great because it has buttons up top, a fun pattern, pockets to hold the essentials, and it's made with a fabric that's comfortable, breathable, and cleanable. I like to layer it with a jean jacket, and I'm good to go!

Outfit: Gorman top, Target jeans, Superga sneakers, vintage Kate Spade Saturday necklace.

A flowy top with skinny jeans is the perfect go-to outfit for every day. The drapey top makes it easy to pull up and nurse, but it's also a bold color that makes me happy. I paired it with a statement necklace and green sneakers for a full day on-the-go!

Outfit: Gorman top, Zara jacket, ASOS skit, Rollie shoes.

I love to dress up classic button-down tops with playful fancy skirts, like this tulle get-up. Playing dress-up can bring so much fun energy and joy to the day. And, a structured moto jacket adds an additional layer for chilly fall days!
