We're back with our second HAPPY SPACE where our Creative Content team, Julia and Jess, design a room for everyone on the Oh Joy! team based on what makes us happy and isn't a room they have right now, like an arboretum…or a library! A library doesn't have to feel stuffy and stiff. It can be lounge-y and relaxing, and that's exactly what they created for Traci, our Social Media Manager. Traci majored in Creative Writing in college, so libraries are her jam. Check it out…
Library Shelving. You don't have to have floor-to-ceiling shelves to have your very own library (which isn't practical for most homes and apartments anyway!). So, they filled shelves with books and highlighted favorites on clear acrylic wall shelves. These shelves might typically be found in kids' rooms, but they make a super stylish way to display current reads in a grown-up space, too.
Cozy time. Julia and Jess really wanted this library to feel relaxing and inviting for Traci. So, they brought in a daybed, lots and lots of pillows, and super cozy blankets in different textures. They also used a rug to ground the space and added in lots of warm wood elements and chic gold accents.
A color you love. Pink is Traci's favorite color, so they made sure it was the primary color of the space. They painted the walls a pretty blush and brought in sheer curtains to match. The curtains give the space an airy vibe and help differentiate the space, which is helpful when creating a reading nook or library within a larger room.
Function! Last but not least, good lighting is essential to every library. So, they brought in a gold swoop lamp over the daybed, making it the perfect well-lit and cozy place to curl up and read. While these spaces are created in our studio, all of these details and rules can be used in any real-life home!
Does this inspire you to create your very own library?
