If you're in Los Angeles, you're in luck! Vive La Tarte recently opened in Silverlake, and it is seriously good. They have several locations in San Francisco and just opened their newest spot in L.A. last month. Check it out…
The atmosphere is bright, calm, and inviting with lots of crisp whites, light wood, and warm colors. It's minimalistic with lots of thoughtful details like beautiful art, plants, and unexpected splashes of color (we love the mix and match plates!).
To drink, we got a variety of espresso drinks (a flat white, latte, and mocha). They have almond and oat milk alternatives, but if flavored syrups are your thing, you won't find them here. To eat, we ordered a fried egg sandwich, breakfast taco, and falafel salad. Each one was amazing (we recommend them ALL!), but can we take a moment to talk about the breakfast taco? Instead of a tortilla, it was wrapped in a crispy, buttery croissant. No other breakfast taco will ever quite compare.
We also ordered a smashed avocado toast. Sometimes we think…why order avocado toast when you could easily make it at home, right? It's usually pretty spendy for some avocado slathered on bread. But, this avocado toast is different, we promise. It's super flavorful (it has an amazing basil aioli spread) and has a perfectly poached egg on top for protein. Oh, and it's served on freshly baked sourdough. It's rare these days to find an avocado toast that stands above the rest, but this one does.
We didn't have room for dessert, but all of their baked goods and treats look delicious. They have a full breakfast, brunch, and lunch menu, and they are open every day until 5pm (the kitchen closes at 3:30pm, though!). Go check it out if you're in the area, or plan a day and go visit!
