A Fun Drawing Game…

While on holiday break, if you find yourself looking for something to do to entertain your kids, try this fun drawing game we did the other day…

How many times have you found yourself saying to a kid (your kid or someone else’s), “Go draw something!”. And the kid says, “But I don’t know what to draw!”. Here’s a fun way to change that…

Give them a drawing challenge!
Simply come up with something they need to go draw and come back with to show you. Here are some examples we did with Coco (my 7 year old) the other day:
-Draw a bowl of fruit in different colors than they are in real life
-Draw a dancing broccoli with swag
-Draw an orange car for Daddy
-Draw Sticky (our dog) reuniting with one of her sisters
-Draw our cat, Max!

By giving kids an assignment (or challenge), it makes it more fun for them. And, they’ll likely keep asking for more. You could also do this with a group of kids (and adult, too!) as a drawing contest! Have fun!

  1. When I was a kid, there was a book at my school library that taught you how to draw things from letters. I remember two of them – a dog from an E and another dog from a W. Turns out this is a great drawing game too – draw a letter and have everyone try to make something out of it. Really wish I could find that book again because it was really great.
