Modern Mobiles

I’m always on the hunt for more kinds of art that are dimensional to mix it up! Here are some great modern mobiles I’ve recently come across…

I don’t know why, but I have always been obsessed with mobiles…even more so as an adult. I’ve always loved Alexander Calder’s work when I learned about him in art school. So ever since then, I love the idea of hanging, floating art that isn’t just meant just for nurseries. Plus, I’m always on the hunt for more kinds of art that are dimensional to mix it up from the art prints that make up most of my home’s art! Here are some great modern mobiles I’ve recently come across…

Circle and Line – Circle & Line is an Austin-based design and fabrication studio that produces elegant, brass mobiles that I am obsessed with. Designer, Corie Humble, believes that artful objects are also meaningful and that the role of each of our pieces is to reflect and elevate the aesthetics of any space.

Stéphanie Barbié – Based in Spain, Stéphanie, a french jeweler and designer makes all her kinetic mobiles and wall decor at her home workshop in Barcelona, with high quality materials and great attention to details.

Utopia Mobiles – In the Netherlands, these hand-made kinetic sculptures are made of wood by Dutch artist, Jeroen de Nijs. They bring joyfulness and playful whimsey to your spaces. I especially love the surprising pop of color and shapes in each piece.

Expand Life Metal Art – From a metal shop in Israel, Rael Yaniv crafts these beautiful pieces taking inspiration from geometric shapes and the beauty of nature. Each piece is made completely by hand, and the artist reminds patrons to not only admire the work, but the beautiful shadows they create. I love the way art expands and touches the space around it.

Which pieces are your favorite? I love them all and just need to find places for all these beautiful mobiles I want! I hope I’ve convinced you to try more sculptural art and to brighten up your space with these beautiful additions. If you have a favorite mobile or sculptural artist, let us know below!
