Lately, I've been noticing all the fun gourmet donut shops popping up. But instead of having just donuts, some shops are offering a second specialty that can satiate past that morning sugar buzz. Here in LA, the newly opened Gingersnap {the bakery offshoot right next door to Gingergrass} specializes in Asian influenced donut flavors like coconut {shown above}, pineapple, and kumquat starting at 10am while serving Vietnamese bรกnh mรฌ sandwiches come lunch time.
And in Philly {my home town!}, Federal Donuts whips up incredible fresh donuts to order {like these Indian cinnamon ones above} starting at 7am, then offers a few varieties of fried chicken {chile garlic, buttermilk, and more} once 11am hits. I fully believe in focusing on a few key items and being really, really good at them. So I love these รผber-focus donut shops that satiate both my morning sweet treat cravings and provide a lunch-time savory fix! Have there been any other donut {plus} shops like this pop up in your city? โ Joy

What?! Amazing! I die.
Hi Joy! First, I have a beautiful name! I just discovered your blog and it is stunning! I really like your style, very inspiring ๐
I just wanted to tell you thank to post about your trip to Chicago because I’m from France and going in the windy city for the whole summer and I was looking for some good addresses to go shopping, to eat etc.. ๐ thanks to everyone who commented and helped you giving you tips ๐
Here is my blog about my trip if you’d like to take a look (it’s not very interesting for the moment because I leaving only in July!) http://drovetochicagoallthingsnew.blogspot.fr/
best wishes!
Those look amazing! I hate to say it but there’s probably nothing I love more than donuts – I’m powerless before any form of deep fried and sugared pastry….
This is such a brilliant idea! We have a few in Eau Claire, like a tea house that only serves phenomenal tea, but now has added some great sweets & chocolates from the chocolate shop across town.
You had me at “donuts.”
YUM! I have not seen any of these specialty donut shops, but now I would really like to visit one. Especially Gingersnap. That is a very unique and interesting concept!
In Austin, a local favorite is Ken’s Donuts. Along with great donuts, they serve fantastic Indian samosas (with potato and peas) and palak paneer pastry (with spinach and paneer cheese). They’re open 24 hours a day, cranking out all their offerings day and night. Yum.
Yum, donuts and chicken – the hippest thing since chicken and waffles. ๐
My boyfriend will be so exited, a banh mi place so close to home!
This sounds so good! I love that restaurant, so I’m sure the bakery is just as good. Cool flavor combos too.
Stay in the Lines
