There's no shortage of spots to have lunch in Los Angeles. But my favorites are places that are casual yet have a bit of character—places you'd want to meet up with friends for lunch to catch up. I recently visited Goldie's in Mid-City West, a newish spot by the owners of Eveleigh, for a mid-day lunch break.
My favorite dishes were the avocado on toast, watermelon and burrata salad, and the pork belly and caramelized onion flatbread. Oh, that flatbread was the perfect combination of crispy, chewy, sweet, and salty!
I love the contrast of the handsome aesthetic inside with the greenery outside, which creates an indoor/outdoor space that makes wonderful use of the climate here and feels homey yet still very Southern California. And the polka dotted shirts the staff wear are pretty awesome. Where can I get one in my size, please?
We (especially Jen) loved being surrounded by the wall of flowers as we sat outside. The scent was just incredible on this beautiful, sun-filled day.

Wow that wall of flowers/plants is unreal. The food also looks amazing!
NYC has amazing food every where but it is hard to find great spots with outdoor seating that has an ambience like that. I think because the summer season isn’t that long most restaurants don’t put that much effort into their outdoor seating/patio (that’s if they even have any).
So wishing I could move to LA one day. The food in LA always looks so good!
Thanks for the share, love these posts!

There’s a place in DC that does a great avocado on toast – with a bit of sea salt and pistachios. Add a glass of rose and it’s pretty much my most perfect dinner I can think of. Looks like a lovely lunch…
This looks like the PERFECT spot to spend a lazy spring afternoon.
The food looks yummy! I especially like avocado on toast. Not everyone appreciates that. 🙂 The flatbread looks good as well, reminds me of a recent time I had it.
so nice! we might be moving to la this fall and i can already tell i’ll be using your blog to find the best places to eat 🙂 thanks!
pork belly and a blooming jasmine wall? I can’t think of anything better…
There’s a shirt at J.Crew that is similar to the one you like….

That live wall in the first photo is amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever seen moss on a live wall before. The food also looks delicious and I can only imagine how incredible all that jasmine smells.
