When we were deciding what July's color combination should be for this month's Color Adventure, there were some debates in the Oh Joy office as to whether "black and white" counted as options. They aren't the over-the-top, unexpected colors that we have previously featured in the past six months. But then, what we realized, is that you never see me wearing black and white. And, we rarely style anything in black and white! So, while the two colors together are nothing new, here's a look at black and white the Oh Joy way! Today, we'll start off with four very fun outfits…
Mrs. Roper — Caftans are the BEST. They may not show off every curve of your body (and all dudes hate caftans), but boy do they combine elegance and comfort into one easy dress. I paired this graphic caftan with some rosy metallic shoes for an easy, yet elegant, outfit for summer days or summer nights.
Mrs. Roper: Marimekko dress, Madewell necklace (past season), M. Gemi shoes.
Office Chic — This makes for a great work outfit if you can be casual, yet still want to look put together. The white jeans are chic for summer, and the fun mod top makes it more interesting than a typical black blouse. I added accessories for texture and pattern, of course!
Work Chic: Victoria Beckham x Target top (past season), January Moon necklace, Gap jeans, Clare V. tote (past season), Bryr clogs (similar).
It's Friday Night — Maybe 20 years ago, I wouldn't have worn this on a Friday night, but now-a-days, a cute statement romper is my jam. An outfit like this may not be practical when you need to pee while watching screaming children, but when you're going out on a date, at the movies, or otherwise doing something just for yourself, a one piece like this is both comfortable and fun.
It's Friday Night: Mister Zimi jumpsuit, Clare V. bag (similar), Clare V. pom tassel, Loeffler Randall shoes.
Beach Day — Finally, if you're looking at all these black and white outfits and telling me that there's too much pattern for your taste, well here's a pretty monotone look that adds just a tad of black and white pattern. I'm wearing this dress as a cover up for the beach, but it can also be a very pretty day dress with a slip underneath. The lace texture adds a ton of visual interest and the hat makes it a little less sweet.
Beach Day: Jen's Pirate Booty dress (similar), San Diego Hat Company hat (similar), Olive & June sandals.
What do you guys think? Which of these would you most likely wear yourself?

I have the Victoria Beckham top in Orange and White and it’s easily one of my favorite tops to wear.
So great!

One is never over-underdressed with a little black dress.
