While I have never been into a lot of bling, quality and special jewelry pieces are something I am slowly investing in as I grow into my adulthood. It started with a special necklace that I purchased in Brooklyn almost 20 years ago after my best friend passed away. In my early 20’s, this piece (which was around $100) was a huge splurge and the first time I wore precious metal jewelry. I wore the necklace everyday to represent my dear friend who I miss so much.
When I got engaged in my mid-20’s, here I was wearing a ring for the first time. I didn’t like wearing rings then (at all) and only did it because that ring meant something and symbolized the beginning of a new chapter in my life.
After I had children, I began to appreciate more personalized pieces (with my kids’ initials on my necklace and birthstones on my rings). Jewelry all-of-a-sudden had more meaning than it once did.
I no longer care to buy cheap novelty jewelry that I once might have purchased in my twenties. But now, every piece I own and invest in would be something I would add to my permanent collection and something I feel like I could pass down to my kids someday.
Since I get lots of questions about the jewelry I wear, I wanted to share some of my favorites pieces and jewelry designers here with you in case you’re looking to add to your collection today or in the near future. Some of these are pieces I actually own, and some are ones I simply love from afar…
