My Daily {Beauty} Routine…

Daily-beauty-routine

It's only been in the last year or so, that I've put together more of a daily routine in terms of the products I use to take care of my face and those I apply as daily makeup. Since we're heading into the summer—a time to show our faces even more—I thought I'd share some of my favorite beauty and makeup products that I use on a daily basis with you…

I start my day by washing my face with a cleanser, spritzing a little mist (so nice in the summer!), and a moisturizing with eye cream and a SPF lotion (I love both low-end and high end). For normal days, I apply my go-to blush with brush, curl my lashes, add some mascara (this is the only one I've used that doesn't clump!), and apply a little bit of gloss or lip stain. If I'm going to a meeting or going out at night and need to have a little more makeup on, I layer on a slighty darker blush, and a darker lipstick. Then I add some eyeliner to my top lids, apply eyeshadow cream with my fingers, and then blend the two together with a smudge brush. Finally, I try to always keep some polish on my hands or toes and love this perfect mix of peach and red all year long.

What are some of your favorite daily beauty essentials?

  1. i love these illustrations. so great. my clinique tinted moisturizer is my go-to. even if i don’t use any other makeup, i gotta have my moisturizer.

  2. The Shu Uemura eyelash curler is the absolute best. Unfortunately it’s becoming increasingly hard to find in stores. I’ve been enjoying the Acure brand lately. Most of their products are organic and fair trade and totally reasonably priced.

  3. I can’t live without my Shu Uemura ultime8 cleansing oil. It feels SO wonderful on your skin and you don’t feel dry after. Seriously – try it. And – of course I love this cute illustration so so much. (:

  4. I’m jealous that you’re skin doesn’t seem to require any foundation or concealer! My Laura Mercier secret camouflage concealer is probably top of the list for makeup necessities. I’m also incredible fair skinned, so a few strokes with any eyebrow pencil makes a huge difference as far as looking polished and put together.

  5. Hi Sarah,
I dont know what it is about foundation or concealer, but it makes me feel like my skin cant breathe! Ill use it every so often if I need to, but usually I go without. Good to know about the LM one! Love that line!

  6. I love Essie Cute as a Button, too! Perfect color. Unfortunately, not as easy to apply as my Revlon polishes, but I deal with having to spend a bit longer to apply in exchange for that gorgeous fun color. When I have it on my nails it makes me happy. 🙂 My favorite daily beauty essential these days is my Clarisonic Mia (which I use with Philosophy Purity). It’s really improved my skin since I started using it! For makeup, I use Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze, Tarte blush in Exposed, Anastasia Eyebrow palette in Brunette, and Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer nearly every day!

  7. I’ve gone completely organic since having our baby girl. Before, every time I kissed her I would imagine the beauty products I was wearing getting on her skin! So now I’m in the beginning of trying out lots of different products. Would be interested to know what organic and natural products people use and recommend!

  8. I’m on the search for a good facial lotion with SPF this summer. I’ll try the Oil of Olay for sure. Gotta keep my Irish freckles in check this summer!
    🙂

  9. The right bronzer can do wonders. Makes you feel all glowing but isn’t too heavy. Love the illustration, btw. xo Juniper,

  10. After researching the ingredients in a lot of “organic” products, most still contain harsh chemicals. So after much research on ewg.org, the top 3 brands I use are:
    – 100% Pure: they have the best tinted SPF moisturizer, great makeup and lotions. They also just opened up a store in Hollywood.
    – Devita sunscreen: I use their solar body block for my face b/c it’s less inexpensive than the face ones and I haven’t had issues.
    – Dr. Bronner’s baby soap: dilute with a lot of water in a foaming pump dispenser to wash face and body
I used to love Oil of Olay products, but a lot of the ingredients in their products are not good for your skin.

  11. First of all, lovely lovely illustrations!
My favo beauty essentials are my clarins one step gentle exfoliating cleanser with orange extract which makes my skin oh so clean, clarins camomile toner, shu uemura hard formula eye brow pencil for a very natural finish, and covergirl lashblast volume for my puny eye lashes. I could go on and on but I think I should stop!

  12. I’m a little late to the party, but this is what I can’t live without:
    – Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer
    – Stila Tinted Moisturizer
    – Stila Convertible Color cheek stain
    – MAC Prep & Prime mineral party
    – Essie nail polish – this spring/summer, Itsy Bitsy Bikini or something like that 🙂
    I agree – top-notch illustrations! Lovely!
