DIY Wrapped Clutch!

If you're ever looking to change up a simple clutch you may already have lying around the house, here's an easy way to customize it using just some extra fabric and fabric glue. Here's how…

DIY Wrapped Clutch!

You'll need:
clutch or zipper pouch
– fabric (we used velvet & sequins from Mood Fabrics, metallic gold from Joann’s)
fabric glue
– scissors

Here's how:
The basic idea is to wrap the clutch almost like you would a flat present, except you're gluing instead of taping.

1. Fold fabric over the clutch to measure the length you’ll need to cut (just like how you would measure wrapping paper for a gift) and trace.

2. Use a ruler to draw lines connecting the edge of the fabric and the line you just traced, allowing for an extra ½ inch on each side. Cut out the square of fabric.

3. Using fabric glue, glue the top edge of the fabric to the zipper edge of the clutch.

4. Flip the clutch over and fold over the extra ½ on each side, secure with glue. Allow to dry 10 minutes.

5. Fold the remaining fabric up to meet the top edge of the clutch. Allow to dry 30 minutes.

Using this technique, you can take a plain canvas clutch and turn it into a gold, sequin, or luxe velvet clutch in no time. It's perfect when you want to create something special to wear to a wedding or simply to create a one-of-a-kind accessory. You can even add pins or vintage brooches to top them off!
