Happy Monday! Since both of my kids are now readers, books have become even more special in our house as we watch them learn through the word and images on each page. I thought I'd share a few of their favorites right now…

Brick — The designer in me loves this because of the architecture spin, but I also love the process of showing kids how something as simple as a brick can be vital to so many ways.

Around the World With Mouk — This one is light on the text, but has a ton of images and characters (almost like a "Where's Waldo") with removable stickers that can interact with the pages.

Give & Take — While this is meant for toddlers (younger than my kids), it's one of the most well thought-out interactive kids' books I have ever seen. It's also great for very early readers with a simple word per page. There are shapes that pop-out and need to be placed on the following spread to create something new. It's SO well-done and makes a great book to have on hand as gifts for toddler birthdays.

Meet Happy Bear — This book has a slide window mechanism that changes the bear's expression when you turn the page. It's a great one for early readers that gets kids excited to interact with the character and definitely incites giggles!

The Book with a Hole — All of Hervé Tullet's books are amazing, but this one is a great one for siblings jointly read/do together. There aren't many words, but every spread has a different scene that you an interact with by sticking your face, foot, hand, or a stuffed animal through it to make the scene complete!

Angry Cookie — A silly and fun book as you read about a cookie who's having a bad day and you learn what makes him feel better. This one is heavy on words and great for established readers or for parents to read to their little ones.

  1. My son loved Mouk when he was 6 or 7 years, we have it here in Germany, too. It’s great with these stickers. I also love collecting old classy childrens books even my son is too old now I’m lookong for those books at flea markets.

  2. My 5 year old is obsessed with the Where’s Waldo books. I got all of them for him. We’ve spent so much time looking at the pictures. So much fun!
