Style Tips: Two-Piece Sets

For a couple years now, I’ve been obsessed with two-piece sets. A two-piece set is any top (tank, tee, sweater) and bottom (skirt/pant) that match. I love the look because it can play the role of a jumpsuit or dress when in fact, they are separate pieces. While I would’ve hated the matchy-matchy thing years ago, it feels very chic and quirky to me now. Plus, you can separate the pieces and turn them into more outfits to have fun with. Come see some examples…

Outfit 1
Here’s the top and the bottom as they are. While I wouldn’t normally wear a sweater vest type piece like this, I love how it’s slouchy and oversized and a great transition piece from summer to fall. I’ve also never worn knitted pants but these were just so cool and vintage-inspired that I had to try them.

Outfit 2
Here, I took the pants and paired them with a denim top. I think the key is to mix textures when pairing with another piece. The denim adds some structure and provides a solid option to pair with the patterned pants. Casual sandals make this an easy and fun outfit!

Outfit 3
For a dressier option, I added white lace maxi skirt to the sweater vest. The skirt adds volume, shape, and femininity to the boxier top. A short heel adds height and makes the whole look more put together.

P.S. See how the Oh Joy! team rocked them…
